Charity of the year - GSK consumer healthcare and pharmaceuticals
Each year the employees of GSK are given the opportunity to vote for our Charity of the Year.
The chosen charity for 2011 is the Cystic Fibrosis Association of Ireland. During the year a number of events will be organised to raise much needed funds to support the fantastic work of the Association. Now in its fourth year, our biggest fundraising event is our Triathlon. Employees, their families and friends are all welcome to participate in the event.
The Cystic Fibrosis Association of Ireland, formed in 1963 by parents of Cystic Fibrosis children, is the organisation responsible for the provision of a range services, including advocating for better hospital conditions for the cystic fibrosis community in Ireland. They are totally dependent on voluntary fundraising and donations to support and assist people with Cystic Fibrosis and their families, to fund medical research, to financially support specialist Cystic Fibrosis Nursing, Dietician & Physiotherapist posts in hospitals , to provide a domiciliary physiotherapy service and to assist in campaigning for increased and improved services for people with Cystic Fibrosis.
